This new documentary, part of the IDF Life for a Child film series, explores the harsh realities of diabetes in the Congo. Lifeblood highlights the emotional struggle of children with type 1 diabetes as they manage and ultimately survive with their condition in one of Africa’s most impoverished and chaotic capital cities, Kinshasa.
The film documents the efforts of selfless champions like Dr Marguerite De Clerck, an 82-year-old nun, who has dedicated herself to the children’s care amid civil and political unrest.
Lifeblood aims to raise awareness of the devastating impact of diabetes and increase support for the IDF Life for a Child Program, which provides children in developing countries the diabetes care and education they require to survive.
Established in 2001 by IDF, Hope Worldwide and the Australian Diabetes Council, the Program now reaches out to 4,000 children with diabetes in 27 countries.
Lifeblood is a production of Wayne Lachman Productions and Doublewide Media.
