До всемирного дня диабета!

Президент Международной Федерации Диабета рекомендует чёткую стратегию для предупреждения неинфекционных заболеваний (NCDs)

Professor Mbanya addressed the World Health Organization (WHO) and several distinguished guests, including Princess Haya Al Hussein of Jordan and World Economic Forum (WEF) founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab, calling for more support for NCDNet, a global NCD network that specifically calls upon Member States, WHO, international partners and other stakeholders to promote partnerships for the prevention and control of NCDs.

“NCD prevention will require change in every aspect of our lives – taxation, food policy, advertising, urban design,” Prof Mbanya said.

"The birth of NCDNet has led to greater recognition for the global epidemic of NCDs, but NCDNet needs money and people if it is to serve as a much needed resource and cannot run on goodwill alone,” Professor Mbanya added. “There are over 2,000 staff working in WHO headquarters, but only one is dedicated to diabetes, a disease affecting 285 million people now and set to rise to 440 million in 20 years time.”

At the World Health Assembly in Geneva on 19 May 2009, IDF partnered with its sister federations in cancer and heart disease—International Union Against Cancer and the World Heart Federation— to push for international action to combat the epidemic of NCDs. Together, the three federations have a global network that comprises 780 member associations in more than 170 countries.
